The third-seeded Millburn Millers took on the sixth-seeded Newark East Side Red Raiders this past Saturday. The stakes were high as both teams were looking to clench a spot in the Semi Final game on Wednesday.

The Millers started the game with high intensity. They went all out attack very early in the game, constantly pressuring the East Side defense. They would eventually get their reward early in the first half as Co-captain Matt Jordan’s shot took a deflection off an East Side defender and flew past the goalkeeper into the back of the net. This set the tone for the rest of the half as the Millers offense lead by Co-captain Ben Kessler continued to pepper the hands of the East Side goalkeeper.

In the second half, Newark East Side were attacking from the whistle. They continuously troubled Millburn goalkeeper and Co-captain Kyle Speckhart, but to no avail as he kept a clean sheet with 6 saves in the game.

The Millers will match up against second-seeded Montclair in the Semi Final game on the 25th of October.
