That’s all, folks! Here’s the last recap of matches for the 2016-2017 bowling season! Millburn had a pretty good season overall. Thanks to everybody who reads these recaps – they’ll definitely be back next season!

With that being said, here’s the final 3 recaps:

Monday, January 23 – Millburn took on West Orange today for the last time this season. Varsity shut out West Orange with a 7-0 win, and JV also won 5-2.

Here are the Varsity highlights:

  • Senior Lauren Potechin bowled a high game of 247, a 3-game series of 682, and a 3-game series average of 227.
  • Senior Jack Nirenberg bowled a high game of 203, a 3-game series of 556, and a 3-game series average of 185.
  • Senior Michael Neiman bowled a high game of 207, a 3-game series of 500, and a 3-game series average of 166.
  • Senior Benji Prashker bowled a high game of 187, a 3-game series of 498, and a 3-game series average of 166.
  • Freshman Daniel Sirota bowled a high game of 167, a 3-game series of 487, and a 3-game series average of 162.

Here are the JV highlights:

  • Freshman Matt Norflus bowled a high game of 132, a 3-game series of 373, and a 3-game series average of 124.
  • Sophomore Jeremy Dranikoff bowled a high game of 131, a 3-game series of 370, and a 3-game series average of 124.
  • Senior Ethan Denenberg bowled a high game of 130, a 2-game series of 232, and a 2-game series average of 116.

The overall high from MHS was achieved by Lauren Potechin with a 247 in her second game.

 

Tuesday, January 24 – Millburn took on Irvington today for the last time this season. Both teams shutout Irvington 7-0. Freshman Daniel Sirota broke his season high today with a 213 in his third game.

Here are the Varsity highlights:

  • Senior Lauren Potechin bowled a high game of 268, a 3-game series of 734, and a 3-game series average of 245.
  • Senior Michael Neiman bowled a high game of 235, a 3-game series of 569, and a 3-game series average of 189.
  • Senior Anthony Amorosa bowled a high game of 198, a 2-game series of 372, and a 2-game series average of 186. (Amorosa bowled one JV game of 185).
  • Senior Jack Nirenberg bowled a high game of 183, a 3-game series of 513, and a 3-game series average of 171.

Here are the JV highlights:

  • Freshman Daniel Sirota bowled one game of 213. (Sirota also bowled one Varsity game of 166).
  • Freshman Matt Norflus bowled a high game of 168, a 2-game series of 308, and a 2-game series average of 154.
  • Senior Jonathan Murray bowled one game of 157.
  • Sophomore Jeremy Dranikoff bowled one game of 134.

The overall high from MHS was achieved by Lauren Potechin with a 268 in her third game.

 

Wednesday, January 25 – Millburn took on Central High School today. Central is not in the Colonial Division, so this match did not help or damage the MHS team. Nevertheless, both teams won 7-0.

There were no highlights for this match since the match did not affect MHS’s SEC standings.

 

Current Standings:

Varsity: 14-3

JV: 10-7

The varsity team will continue on to bowl Livingston High School on Monday, January 30th for the SEC Colonial Division Title. Additionally, the JV team will bowl Caldwell for the third place finish in the SEC Colonial Division. As of today, the varsity team still sits 3 points behind LHS. Varsity needs to win on Monday with a 7-0 win to win the title, or a 5-2 win to be Co-Champions with Livingston. Any other combination of finishes will result in Millburn finishing second.

The varsity team will also continue on to the Group 3 North 2 Team State Sectionals on Friday, February 3rd; they will also participate in the Esssex County Team and Individual Championships. Best of luck to the varsity team!
