January 5, 2017 – MHS bowling took on the Mountaineers of West Orange and came out with another 7-0 win from both Varsity and JV teams. This moved the Varsity team up to 2nd place in the SEC, just 6 points behind Livingston High School in 1st place. The JV team places 3rd as of now, 14 points behind Livingston. The Varsity team had one of their best pinfalls of the season with a high game of 1,059 pins in the 3rd game along with a 3-game pin total of 2,906 pins.

Here are the Varsity highlights from the match:

  • Senior Jack Nirenberg bowled a high game of 231, a 3-game series of 677, and a 3-game series average of 225.
  • Senior Lauren Potechin bowled a high game of 233, a 3-game series of 669, and a 3-game series average of 223.
  • Senior Benji Prashker bowled a high game of 230, a 3-game series of 617, and a 3-game series average of 205.

Here are the JV highlights from the match:

  • Sophomore Jeremy Dranikoff bowled a high game of 158, a 2-game series of 285, and a 2-game series average of 142.
  • Freshman Daniel Sirota bowled a high game of 153, a 2-game series of 278, and a 2-game series average of 139.
  • Senior Jonathan Murray bowled a high game of 142, a 2-game series of 277, and a 2-game series average of 138.
  • Senior Lucas Murhpy bowled one game of 137.
  • Senior Ethan Denenberg bowled one game of 133.
  • Sophomores Jared Simons and Spencer Berkowitz both bowled one game of 132.
  • Freshman Matt Norflus bowled a high game of 129, a 2-game series of 244, and a 2-game series average of 122.

The overall high from MHS in the match Thursday was achieved by senior Lauren Potechin with a 233 in her second game.
