A fresh start is all the Millburn Girls Soccer Team needed. Bouncing off a 2-14-1 season last year, the Lady Millers have began their 2015-2016 campaign with a 2-1 record, racking up wins against Nutley and now Morristown.

Morristown was backed up by their Sophomore goalie, Sarah Wilson. The Lady Millers relied on Shannon Tanner to keep the Lady Colonials’ score low. Both goalies were impenetrable in the first half as neither team could find the back of the net before the intermission.

Millburn came out strong in the second half due to their deep roster and confidence to put any of their players on the field from freshman to senior, including freshman starter, Melissa Gates.

Senior, Chloe Radtke was able to sail a shot past Wilson and give the Millers the lead in the middle of the second half on a perfectly placed free kick from 35 yards away from the goal.

With a combination of the late game heroics by Radtke and a few highlight reel saves by Shannon Tanner in both the first and second half, Millburn was able to slide past the Colonials with a home victory, and already match last year’s win column.
