The rivalry continues. The Millburn Millers took on their rival, the Livingston Lancers to kick off the 2015-2016 season. Millburn was led by Sophomore quarterback, Peter Serruto, and Senior running back, Zach Weinstein in an effort to avenge the 36-7 loss to the Lancers last season.

The Millers jumped out to a quick start defensively, containing Livingston’s run game, forcing them to resort to a depleted passing game led by Junior quarterback, Nick Cotugno. On the other end of the ball, Weinstein ran Millburn all the way to the red zone setting up a 19 yard touchdown pass for Serruto to Dean Schweinler.

After another defensive stop for Millburn, Serruto was intercepted by Livingston defensive back, Jared Goldman. That first and only Miller turnover set Livingston up in the red zone, which resulted in a touchdown. Kyle Rosenbaum converted the two point conversion for Livingston to give Millburn’s rival the 8-7 lead.

Soon after that, Zach Weinstein exploded for a 54 yard run. Moments later, Weinstein snuck past the goal line for the deciding touchdown, and the 14-8 lead. Millburn won the 2015-2016 annual brawl between the two rivals 21-8.
