It was a statement win for the Millburn Millers men’s basketball team on Thursday, against the Barringer Blue Bears. Having lost to Barringer in early January by 11 points the Millers outscored Barringer in three of the four quarters to top the visitors 57-42.

Coming off a career night against Livingston just two days earlier, Zach Ravitz was able to control the paint on defense, forcing Barringer to hoist up low percentage shots from the perimeter. On the other end of the floor Ravitz put on a show with his creative moves inside.

Barringer was able to trim the deficit down to three points at the half despite the strong first impression the Millers had on the Blue Bears. Barringer rallied behind the temporary stalling of the Millburn offense in the second quarter, and strong performances from Saquan Young, who finished with 11 points, and Rheaquone Taylor’s 13 points.

After the half time intermission it was all Millburn. The Millers outscored Barringer 29-17 to run away with the win. Ravitz finished with 24, making his point total for the last two games 45. Ross Gang scored 16, while carrying Millburn’s three-point game.

Millburn’s win makes them a top 10 seed for the county tournament, which starts on Monday, the eighth. Barringer dropped to 6-10 on the season, and the Millers improved to 12-4 on the year. The Millers will lace up on Monday to begin county tournament play against Golda Och Academy. Be sure tune in for the broadcast on Studio 462.
