LIVINGSTON, NJ – The Millburn girls basketball team opened the 2016-2017 season with a commanding win over arch-rivals Livingston 49-17.

Led by second-year Head Coach Dave Drechsel, the Lady Millers entered the game with a few question marks regarding personnel heading into Saturday’s matchup after graduating many key players last year.

Juniors Kayla Wolf and Rachel Hubertus, two constants in last year’s rotation, scored 10 and 11 points and Sophomore sensation Leila Dean Stansberry led the way with 15 points, including three 3FG.

Millburn outscored the Lady Lancers by nine, holding them to just four points in the first quarter. This trend continued as the Lady Millers were double-digit scorers in each quarter while holding Livingston to no more than five points in each quarter with a systematic defensive effort.

The Lady Millers host Super Essex Conference – Liberty Division rival Mt. St. Dominic in the home opener on Tuesday.
