The Millers took down West Essex by a score of 43-29 on opening to start the season 1-0. Coach Blind said before the game that “the primary goal for the team this season is to win the Colonial Division and that starts tonight against West Essex”.

It was a big win for the Millers as West Essex went 8-2 in conference play last season. Zach Ravitz was the star man on opening night with 14 points to his name and a couple of blocks, boards, and assists. He will without a doubt be an influential part to the season. But it was Ross Gang with the moment on the game as he dunked the ball into the net right before halftime. He also chipped in with a much needed 13 points on the night.

Coach Blind said before the game that “experience will play a big part to our success this season along with our length. We are very long with Ross Gang standing at 6’4, Will Rosenberg at 6’5, and Zach Ravitz at 6’8”.

Not surprisingly, Millburn forced the Knights to settle for a lot of outside shots, not allowing many points from inside the paint. Zach Ravitz’s height in the middle will be key for the Millers this season on the defensive end.

Importantly for the Millers, the starting 5 all had prior Varsity experience. With only one starter from last year (Jake Bank) gone, the Millers look primed for a great upcoming season.

The Millers will take on the Livingston Lancers in their next game on Tuesday.
